Approximately 370 different organizations now have joined ASAE and the Professional Certification Coalition in the Tomorrow’s Workforce Coalition to actively promote bipartisan legislation called the Freedom to Invest in Tomorrow’s Workforce Act (S. 722 / H.R. 1477). The coalition’s goal is to support professionals, organizations, industries, and professions that rely on credentials, skills training, and expertise.
Led by Congressman Rob Wittman (R-Va.) and Congresswoman Abigail Spanberger (D-Va.) in the House, and Senators Amy Klobuchar (D-Minn.) and Mike Braun (R-Ind.) in the Senate, the legislation is aimed at expanding economic opportunities and increasing access to postsecondary credentials. Specifically, the Freedom to Invest in Tomorrow’s Workforce Act would expand qualified expenses under 529 savings plans to include postsecondary training and credentialing programs, offering tax-advantaged resources for individuals pursuing career growth and non-traditional academic routes. The bill enjoys substantial support, making it a promising avenue for empowering the future workforce.
Membership in the Tomorrow’s Workforce Coalition is free, and organizations can choose their level of participation. More information is available in the ASAE one-pager on the Freedom to Invest in Tomorrow’s Workforce Act and interested parties should review the membership flyer.
