Tomorrow’s Workforce Coalition Close to 600 Members, Adds and a New Website

August 17, 2023

Shortly after officially launching, the Tomorrow’s Workforce Coalition has already grown to 560 member organizations and recently launched a new website and held its first meeting to plan advocacy activity. The coalition, led by ASAE and the Professional Certification Coalition, has organized to champion bipartisan legislation called the Freedom to Invest in Tomorrow’s Workforce Act (S. 722 / H.R. 1477).

Tomorrow’s Workforce Act is led by Representatives Rob Wittman (R-Va.) and Abigail Spanberger (D-Va.) in the House and Senators Amy Klobuchar (D-Minn.) and Mike Braun (R-Ind.) in the Senate. The bill would broaden economic opportunities by expanding 529 savings plans to cover postsecondary training and credentialing programs, offering tax-advantaged resources for career advancement and non-traditional academic paths.

As hundreds of member organizations continue to join, the Tomorrow’s Workforce Coalition just launched a new webpage, providing important information about the bill and how organizations can help build support in Congress to pass it into law. On August 15, the coalition held its first meeting to organize activity to be prepared for Congress’ return next month.
