Comments on NTIA’s AI Accountability Policies Due June 12

June 8, 2023

Public comments are due June 12th on how the Biden administration can ensure artificial intelligence (AI) tools such as ChatGPT work as advertised.

The National Telecommunications and Information Administration (NTIA), part of the Commerce Department, is gauging how to regulate the explosion of AI tools that are transforming how businesses and associations operate.

Associations are among the sectors exploring how generative AI can radically improve member engagement, streamline internal processes and better serve their audiences through personalized content.

In particular, NTIA is seeking input on what policies would shape the AI accountability ecosystem, including topics such as: what kind of data access is necessary to conduct audits and assessments; how regulators can incentivize and support credible assurance of AI systems; and what different approaches might be needed in different industry sectors like employment and health care.
