ASAE Kicks Off American Associations Day 2022

March 31, 2022

More than 100 association professionals will visit with legislators and their staff during American Associations Day, March 31-April 1, to demonstrate the power of associations and the community’s unique role in solving complex societal challenges and providing significant contributions to the U.S. economy.

Association advocates will express the need for a pandemic risk coverage solution and share ways that associations, as the primary source of post-college education, help build equity in the workforce through expertise-driven certifications.

ASAE President and CEO Michelle Mason, FASAE, CAE, kicked off today’s program by reminding association advocates how they can positively impact policy discussions on Capitol Hill.

“Members of Congress and their staff rely on association professionals to keep them informed about how new or proposed legislation impacts their constituents back home,” Mason said. “This is your chance to share The Power of Associations with Congress – that we are a vast community representing every industry and profession, and that we are ready to work with Congress to transcend “politics as usual;” to engage in constructive, civil discourse; and to find solutions on issues that matter to all Americans.”

During the American Associations Day reception tonight at the Hyatt Regency on Capitol Hill, ASAE will present its Association Policy Leadership Award to Stephen J. Caldeira, President and CEO of the Household & Commercial Products Association, and its 2022 Sentinel Award to Congressman Derek Kilmer (D-WA). Caldeira has been a tireless advocate for the interests of ASAE and the association community, generously giving his time and communications and policy expertise to ensure associations are positioned for success. Kilmer is actively promoting innovative and critically needed legislation to improve access to career development, such as the myriad professional credentials that associations provide, and to help American workers, professions and industries navigate pandemic recovery.
